Signs Your Job Interview Went Well
When you go on a job or internship interview, it is not very likely that you will be offered the position right on the spot unless you are very impressive. However, there are surefire signs that your interviewer was impressed and that things are looking promising. Though none of these are guarantees, these are some signs that your interview went well.
1. The interviewer got into the specifics of the job
If your interviewer tells you the daily tasks of the job, they are taking things deeper and are hinting that you are a potential keeper for the position. If the person says “you” will be completing these tasks as opposed to “a successful candidate will do these things,” it means that you are a top contender for the position since they are directing the tasks at you.
2. You are introduced to the office and those in it
Sometimes, job or internship interviews are not conducted in the office where the company is located. If this is the case and you are shown where the office is, this means that you are in a positive position and the interview went well. Bonus points if your interviewer introduces you to your colleagues who are in the office, even if they introduce you as someone being interviewed.
3. The interview was conversational
Sometimes, interviews feel forced and awkward. However, if your interview felt more like a conversation than an interview, it went well. From asking your interviewer questions to just having a genuine conversation, if your interview felt more two-sided and natural, it is safe to say that you and your interviewer hit it off well, which is always a good sign.
4. You felt like your interviewer liked you
Getting a positive and encouraging vibe from your interviewer is a good sign, even if they do not specifically say that you got the job. Sometimes, your interviewer will give positive affirmation or give off positive body language that you can pick up on. Other times, this feeling is more of a gut feeling. In either case, if you felt like it went well, it probably did.
5. The interview runs longer than expected
If you were scheduled for a 15-minute time slot and you talk for 20 minutes or longer, it is likely that your interviewer likes you. When the conversation is natural and two-sided, it is common for time to escape you. Your interviewer caring more about you than time and not rushing through the interview if it feels natural, it is a sign that the interview went well.
